I think I may have a little bit of a Resident Evil addiction...I think the first sign was when I bought a Gamecube just to get hold of RE Zero, the remake of RE1 and RE4 rather than wait seven months for it to appear on PS2. Not shown is my dodgey copy of RE3 Nemesis and RE Outbreak File 2 which has gone AWOL.

Still with RE Revelations (went and bought a 3DS for this), Operation Raccoon City and RE 6 out this year, its a good time to be a Resi fan.

Orks with a difference!

Ive always liked Space Orks, though Ive always liked the old Rogue Trader/2nd Edition ones better then the current releases, but thats another matter. However Ive never liked the green paint jobs, why do Orks have to be green? Cant they be a differnt colour?

So after a while thinking of suitable miniatures for mutants to include in my post apoc project, I stumbled across a fellow on the LAF forums selling Black Reach Orks cheap. And after about two weeks work, here is a small force of flesh coloured Orks that I hope dont look quite as laughable as thier green skinned counterparts.

The second of my Shadowforge Scav's, one more to paint up. I like this one the best out of the three, unlike the earlier spear scav, she actually has a face, and is wearing practical clothing unlike the third (still painting her) mini.

Im not sure if I'll buy more of Shadowforges stuff in the future, most of the mini's seem to have blow up doll faces. Though on saying that I do like the look of the bounty hunter set they have.

4A Miniatures has just released a bunch of sci-fi types that would be great for Rogue Trader or any kind of post apoc/space skirmish game. I bought a few a while ago, but never got around to painting them til recently.

As you can see they scale up rather nicely with GW's Rogue Trader range from the 80's (The fellow in the mask).

Ive been a fan of Ghost in the Shell since I saw the first movie way back in the early / mid 90's, and I always felt it was a shame no one produced miniatures of the characters, then Hasslefree comes out with its "Capt.Isseki" miniature. I tried to keep the colours as close to the anime as I could, but I wasnt going to attempt to sculpt cyborg eyes on him.

The lady in red is just an old Heroclix mini Ive been meaning to paint for three years or so.

So after several months of house work, leaking washing machines, and minding the parents dog, I finally got around to having a game of HeroQuest, and it was decided that we needed Henchmen to hire on.

So I picked up a box set of Brettonian Men at Arms, and after several mishaps with superglue, I got 8 painted up, 4 henchmen, 1 Sargent, 1 monk, 1 jester/bard and an archer. Now I just need some rules.

And in case anyone was wondering, these are a nightmare to put together, hence why I stopped at 8.

HeroQuest Game Pictures

We managed to get another game of HeroQuest in a few nights ago, playing through the "Legacy of the Orc Warlord" mission. The heroes had to escape from a cell, find thier equipment then escape, though Lee, who was in charge of the heroes decided to just rampage across the map unarmed and wipe out almost all the monsters before ehr got the dwarf tooled up to kill Grak the Orc Warlords son. It was a good game and was the first that all painted miniatures were used, which made me a happy chap.

I rattled off a few more Undead for HeroQuest over the last two days, the Skeletons were nice and quick, as was the Mumie, but the Zombies gave me a few problems. I couldn't remember how to paint rotting flesh and ended up with a green blue wash mix on one, kinda reminds me of a 70's zombie movie. While I was at it, I got the big guy painted up as a statue, rather than painting him as a demon, as he is a Gargoyle in HeroQuest, not a Bloodthirster.

While Im in the fantasy mood, I dug through the lead mountain and dug out a tomb and a treasure chest, both from the same Reaper set, they should look good on the board.

Hasslefree's Hanako, I picked her up in a freebie deal at Smoggycon 09, and she had been sat unpainted until about 2 days ago. I tried a new method of painting yellow, starting with a black undercoat I used gray, followed by the yellow's, dark shades through to light, and I really think its worked. Kira- Hachi means killer bee, suitable for her colour scheme I thought.

Way back in 1991, I picked up my second ever issue of White Dwarf, I was mad for anything HeroQuest related at the time, and I had my eyes opened to the worlds of Games Workshop via the entries from the 91 Golden Demon contest. I was amazed by one miniature, something called a Noise Marine, I decided I would have one, but I never saw one available in the shops. Now 20 years (give or take a month or two) later, I managed to get hold of one in a trade off a guy on the Frothers board. Good things come to those who wait it seems.

Lich Sorcerer and Female Chaos Warrior

Im not sure where this undead terror comes from,what I do know is he is plastic, fairly well detailed, came in two parts and is huge..huge like a giant....I like the way the skin has turned out, a mix of green and brown. Im also rather happy with the purple of his robes as it was giving me all kinds of head aches when I was painting him.

Yet another Hasslefree miniature, I picked up "Jenova" here at Smoggycon 2009, and shes been sitting in a drawer since then. I believe she's Kev White's homage to John Blances "Amazonette" painting from the 80's, but dont quote me on that. To get her armor to have a metalic green sheen to it, i simple drybrushed her with shades of silver, dark to light, then gave her a good soaking of a green wash.

I picked up a few spare heroes from HeroQuest off eBay last year and finally got around to painting them up. No elf though, and the Barbarian's sword need's to be replaced. the wizard is a bit naff in the face, but the White Dwarf is just a great little sculpt.

I also finished off an Ogre and a Chaos Warrior, the warrior came with a few clones in a starter paint set I picked up for free a few years ago. The Ogre is from some old board game from the early 90's I think, I have no idea what it was originally for.

Future Wars Police Force

I finally got around to painting the dozen or so cops I had rusting away in the mountain of lead, I then grabbed the various miniatures I'd painted in the same uniform scheme over the last few years and voila, one police force with power armored support.

Mostly made up of mini's from em4 and Copplestone Castings, there are a few Heresy, Hasslefree and Khurasan thrown in there as well, nice that all those lines can mix.

Another Hasslefree miniature I picked up at Smoggycon. This fine warrior is the first of my not-HeroQuest replacement heroes. This fellow came with 3 heads, the one I used, which I think looks closer to the pulp magazine and comic Conan, a movie Conan head, which will go on an Imperial officer me thinks, and lastly a orc head.

I can say a horrid mold line along the boot, but with all the detail on the legs I didnt want to risk filing it away so I left it, he is for gaming any way so...

2010 has come and gone (as has the snow thank God!) I got quite a bit of painting done, but it was mostly random, other than the Imperial Guard and Judges, I seemed to start projects and then drop them, though I know this isnt an uncommon problem.

Well for 2011 Ive decided to concentrate on a few projects.

- Necromunda Eschers - Miniatures aquired
- Home Made HeroQuest / Dungeon Crawl set - The big project.

Though with my head puddled with the amount of purchases I could and did make that day I forgot that power fists cant be taken in a regular squad, so Im going to need a new Sgt for this squad...damn..

From the looks of him, I'd say this Preacher wasnt always a nice man of God, and to be honest, I dont think he is. A nice quick one hour paint job, did the skin, painted the jacket and then dapped a bit of white between his collar.

I'm a massive Fallout fan, currently working my way through Fallout New Vegas on the 360 despite the various bugs, I only have the Mr.House and NCR endings to go, yay me. Anyhow, I pondered a while on how to paint this Chronoscope miniature, then it occurred to me she was wearing an armored vault suit. So on went the blue and yellow. I tried to get the metal plates to look old and worn, I think Ive achieved that.

Attack of the Nun's (Sister's part 3)

I managed to finish four more Sister's over a week ago, but have had trouble with my camera, all it wanted to take photo's of was fuzzy miniatures. I think I may have solved the problem by taking the photo's from about four miles away. Anyhow, two more Repentia's and two Battle Sister's. I like the Repentia models, its just a pity there are only 3 different scuplts (not counting the Mistress) in the set. I won a box set back in 2008 from the local GW store, along with a squad of Talarns, the Throne of Judgement and a box of Arco Flagelents (which Ive since sold), so figured it was past time to paint them.

I like the red armor and think Ive managed to get a nice shade of red. I cant take any credit for the banner as it was already on the badly panted second hand mini's I picked up off ebay years ago.

Sisters Part 2

I've encountered a problem with stripping some of the Sister models I have of paint. Whoever painted the 2nd hand ones I have used something that even the tried and tested Mr.muscle is having trouble with, even after a week of soaking. So while I sort that out I sprayed and painted up some fresh metal in the form of a Repentia and a Heavy Flamer.

While I was at work I was struck by the idea of a red and white themed army (no not a refrence to Middlesbrough football club). I think they have come out quite nice. As for a name Im thinking of The Order of the Bloody Blade.

Servitors

I got hold of some Servitor miniatures from some of the nice people over on the Lead Adventure Forum. 7 in total, but as you can only take 5 in a squad in the current Guard Codex I was rather spoilt for choice. So, two Gun Servitors armed with Heavy Bolters and three Close Combat Servitors.

I figured it would be cool to have the two types of cyborgs in diffrent coloured body suits, orange for the Gun's and blue for the CC borgs. Also I kind of went for a dead, rotting zombie colouring on the flesh, well they are hardly alive or human anymore....

Escher Test Model

I havent had much drive to paint lately, quite a few things going on, but I did manage over the course of several nights, to sit down and paint this converted ganger. The conversion was just a weapon swap, auto pistol for a bolter.
As far as painting goes, my main reason for the test model was to see if I could paint yellow decently enough, and well I think Ive managed it, though the pants need a bit of extra work and maybe her hair....

Mechwarrior Repaints

All were from the Undead lance set, and had a terrible blood splattered theme throughout, luckily, undercoating covered that and it was a simple matter of slapping some red and white upon them.

Space pirates

Been a while since I posted anything, but Ive been busy with my house, and painting various miniatures but not seeming to finish anything. I finished basing these Chronoscope figures today and figured I might as well get them up here. Generally nice sculpts, though the girl has massive lips, and the cyborgs fist isnt molded correctly...And they took two months to arrive from Reaper US....

EM4 Merc's

Havent been posting on here for a while due to my computer dieing on me, and having to work extremely long hours 6 days a week.

Anyhow, I placed an order with em4 Miniatures the other week and decided to try out thier range of pre painted mini's...yes I know, pre painted, yuck. But this was the only way to get hold of these sculpts that on the website looked decent enough for the space pirates project I have planned.

For £12 you get five metal (not plastic unlike some companys) Bob Olley mini's and 4 12 sided dice, in a nice window box. The problem with the packaging however is that instead of foam, they use plastic, the crappy soft kind you get when you buy an ipod or something, as a result, the slots werent big enough for two of the miniatures (M16 and radio guy) as a result the thin parts were pretty bent.

The paint jobs themselves werent to bad, much better than say, Heroclixs, but the faces could have used a little work. They also required to be based, though they came with 5 slotta bases. A touch up with some washes and they were ready to go.

All in all, not a bad little set for some ready made henchmen.

New Model Daleks

I think Im one of the few people in the world to like the new look Dalek's. So when the BBC released thier kids Dr.Who magazine (A joke of book, even if it is aimed at kids) with five free plastic Daleks, I snapped them up, 5 miniatures for £2.25, damn right!

I only have the white and yellow Daleks left to paint.

Some More Commissar's

I managed to get hold of these two Rogue Trader era Commissar's (though they have Chaplian on thier tabs) from a fellow (Eastern Barbarian) on the Lead Adventure forum. Im not sure how usable they are with the current rules, as Commissar's cant carry lasguns, though they could work as Overseer's for a Penal squad, hmmm.
I may have to go back and sort out the gray drybrushing on the coats ans they look rather well...crap to be honest.

Catachan Squad with Commissar

Yet another infantry squad painted up and completed, this time packing a melta gun and heavy bolter, and dragging a Commissar along to boot. I kinda like these older Catachan's, sure they are over muscled ape men, but at least they look better than the god awful plastics that replaced them. The three remaining Last Chancers slid into this group quite nicely as well.

Iron Snake's Librarian

Another miniature that's been sat in the pile for about a year now. Glad I finally got some paint on him. I don't this model is available anymore but theres something nice and simple about his design. Anyhow this brings my Iron Snake's model total up to 6.
While painting the Librarian, I went back and repainted the Brother Sgt's helmet white as it was pointed out to me it was the wrong colour.

Salute 2010 Sci Fi Girl

I got two of the special Salute 2010 miniatures so decided to paint one set up slotta bases, the robot is in the Salvage Crew as seen in an earlier post. I felt it a bit unfair not to paint up the space girl so I slapped some paint on her the other day. Not a very nice casting, plenty of flash and an ugly and hard to paint face. Not sure what Im going to use her for.

Fingers

Every regiment needs a rogue trooper (no not the blue skinned fellas from 2000AD) that can pilfer and aquire equipment from any number of sources, and the Albion 13th has Lance Corporal "Fingers" Smith to fill that role.

My last model from the Last Chancers range, I forgot to take pictures from the side and back to show off his numerous pouches and packs, as well as the Penal Legion bdge painted in white to emulate a single rank stripe.
